We represented an automotive company before the Competition College of the Belgian Competition Authority in interim measures proceedings.

Creating a Level Playing Field in Energy and Manufacturing.

On behalf of a local manufacturer of electricity meter boxes, we obtained landmark interim measures before the Competition College of the Belgian Competition Authority against a very large international competitor regarding lids for electricity meter boxes.

Sports Competition Litigation.

We represented the Pro League, the Belgian association of professional football clubs, in interim proceedings brought by a club (Waasland-Beveren) against the decision to put an early end the 2019-2020 championship (because of the COVID-19 crisis) and the relegation of Waasland-Beveren to the second division.

Distribution and Licensing.

We assist clients to ensure that their distribution and licensing agreements comply with EU and Belgian competition law. We have particular experience in a number of highly regulated industries, such as Motor Vehicle distribution, Pharmaceuticals, and Defense.

JVs, Joint R&D and Competition Law.

We advise on a continuous basis on the competition aspects of joint ventures and other forms of horizontal cooperation, such as joint research and development, joint production and purchasing.

Essential Facilities in the Media Sector.

We assisted a Belgian commercial broadcaster in proceedings against a cable company holding a dominant position in the market of transport and distribution of television content.

Access to Sports Results.

We assisted a sector federation with EU competition law advice regarding access to sports results.

Sports Transfer Systems.

In one of the world’s most popular sports, we assisted an athletes’ trade union organization representing the interests of its members (male and female) on a worldwide basis. We submitted a complaint against the global federation of the sport concerned based on the anti-competitive nature of the transfer system. This complaint has allowed our client to sign a landmark agreement with the sports federation to improve worldwide governance in the sport concerned.

DNS-Blocking and Gaming.

We represented an online gaming company before the Belgian courts to challenge the lawfulness of the state-imposed DNS-measure to block access to its website.

Platform Economy: Uber.

Our lawyers have co-represented a Belgium-based taxi company in commercial law proceedings before the Belgian courts against Uber, dealing in particular with competition law issues as well as arguments concerning the compatibility with EU law of the local decree regulating taxi transport.
