EU Law impacts and defines the very foundations of our legal system. Our team members not only have knowledge of internal market legislation, competition law and sector-specific regulations. The team also features specialists that have researched and published extensively in the area of fundamental rights, EU Public and Constitutional Law. As the complexity of our legal systems increases, fundamental rights litigation will become an important driver for change – and we will be right there when that happens.

Our team has seasoned IP experts that have learnt the ropes in the IP teams of leading US litigation firms. Our experience ranges from pharmaceutical Patent and SPC litigation (often as part of Europe-wide litigation teams), over trademark strategic advisory work, to cutting-edge matters in Copyright, Software and Databases (especially in the areas of intermediary liability and chain of title).

EDSON’s litigation experience ranges from local Belgian courts to the European Court of Justice. We have also appeared before courts in other European jurisdictions together with local support counsel. EDSON has experience in complex litigation including multiparty and/or mass claims.

Sector-specific regulation is rapidly gaining importance, with a myriad of regulators and authorities that do not just monitor compliance, but often have wide-ranging enforcement and even judicial powers. Fair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection legislation is growing in importance and complexity, and is increasingly influenced by European and sector-specific regulation. We have been part of integrated and embedded teams. We implemented purchasing and contract flows for digital television and advised on compliant sales and data processing processes.

EDSON provides legal opinions and legal advice. Don’t expect advice on what is not allowed or what is not possible. We explore scenarios that allow for freedom to operate and/or non- infringement. Our advice contains clear guidance – not just a description of the law.
